Follow-up Comment #73, bug #47372 (project octave): I pushed the following changeset: http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/f3f8e1d3e399 I now see that the empty matrix objects (for example) that are created in .oct files and that previously had low reference counts now have counts in the hundreds, which matches what I see on my GNU system. Using nm on all the object files for a Windows builds shows no more duplicated guard variables for static variables. I'm also no longer seeing a crash at exit when running "test imread; exit" or "__run_test_suite__; exit" on Windows.
