Details:

Whenever I try to use the plot legend() function-- either from command line or
with in a *.m script-- I get an "out of bound" error.  

For example the following code (copied from the command window) yields the
error....


>> x = [1   2   3   4   5];
>> y = x.^2 + 5;
>> plot(x,y)
>> legend('y')
error: A(I): index out of bounds; value 121 out of bound 12
