Follow-up Comment #1:

I can confirm this. It seems that this bug has returned with cset
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/c5f0df2a7291 where
command_editor::interrupt replaced command_editor::accept_line. Using the
latter again fixes the bug for me and I do not encounter any problems using
dbcont at the command line (which was the reason for the cset mentioned
above). 

I have attached a patch for testing.
