Follow-up Comment #2, bug #44485 (project octave): Maybe File>Exit (or equivalently the exit button of the main window) should raise a warning dialog if Octave is currently busy. Something like "Do you really want to interrupt the interpreter?". If "yes" is pressed then throw an interrupt and exit.
