Update of bug #37358 (project octave):

Follow-up Comment #4:
To fix the problem I had to remove the whole
/opt/octave/3.7 directory where I had installed
Octave and then reinstall. So it seems the problem
was due to some conflicting files from previous
installations.
As I was the only one to ever experience this problem
I am closing this bug.
