Follow-up Comment #3, bug #37234 (project octave):

Someone just reported having the GUI not start generally:

so this may not be related to the debug problems.  Let's close this bug report
because there are broader bugs in the GUI right now (e.g., command window
doesn't update properly) and there are all kinds of shadow variable warnings
associated with GUI compilation.
