Follow-up Comment #47, bug #30685 (project octave):
Note: bug 33927 is listed as a duplicate of this.
Since Redhat 5 uses gcc 4.1 this bug prevents installing
octave 3.6 on these Redhat systems. Many users are
still on Redhat 5
Therefore, this should be marked as a bug in 3.6, and
it would help if someone familiar with the initialization
code could take a look. The diagnositc information below
seems fairly complete. I currently only have access to
RHEL 5 systems about once a week, but I can try to work on
this if possible.
