thanks for all your comments! 

1. I didn't know __splinen__, but it is the same and a little bit faster for
meshgridded XI,YI (so, it should be used)
2. yes, it is
3. of course, I think it is fixed now
4. done, for the "not-equispaced X,Y, scattered XI,YI" case
5. done (newcubic.m)
