Follow-up Comment #3, bug #30423 (project octave):

I made the maximum extent value accessible as a static member of dim_vector
and documented the choice. I think it would be best to simply make the value
accessible from the interpreter, so that it can change in the future.

Would you prefer indexmax() or intmax("index")?
