on the strength of observations made by somebody else here recently, i tried
moving my mail store from ZFS to UFS.

scan results for +inbox, ~4000 messages.

UFS (3Ware mirror):

0.114u 0.076s 0:00.21 85.7%     138+1461k 1+0io 0pf+0w
0.110u 0.081s 0:00.21 90.4%     147+1429k 0+0io 0pf+0w
0.125u 0.066s 0:00.19 94.7%     144+1519k 0+0io 0pf+0w

ZFS (raidz2):

my sleepycat version is no faster than the UFS numbers above.  apparently i
have been the victim of "zfs fragmentation".  i'm going to back off of trying
to put the full headers into the sleepycat and just focus on IMAP's UID's now.
