An unfortunate side-effect, but probably something we must live with.
Bounce noise can get bad and generate anger among those that receive
bounce messages that they never sent.

It is more common now for mailing lists to be limited to subscribers
only.

I'm not sure how Mailman creates bounce messages, but bounces can
open a door for exploitation by spammers.

More information about the lists and how to contact nmh developers
could be included on the nmh web pages.  Directing them to
savannah's support request form is an option non-subscribers can
use.
