Michael, I'm running exim on my laptop and run postfix on my mail
server and have been meaning to do as you suggest since my laptop often
wakes up on various networks. I haven't been able to determine how to do
this from the documentation yet and would appreciate some specific
configuration examples to help me put two and two together (I've been
getting five for large values of two).

My laptop (exim authorization client) is running Debian sarge, my mail
server (postfix authorization server) is running Debian woody if it
matters. I'd be willing to switch to postfix on my laptop if necessary.
