It doesn't appease both crowds when you are changing the binds for all
existing "actual" users so someone who doesn't yet use or rarely uses
nano can more easily edit a config file. Why can't users uncomment the
CUA-like bindings in the default nanorc instead of breaking nano for
existing users and forcing them to waste time rebinding or relearning
everything? It isn't hard to shift-select those lines and then use M-3
to uncomment them. Maybe the comment above them could mention
shift-selecting and M-3.

Or maybe nano could get a CUA mode that can be enabled/disabled with a
single "un/set cua" line to uncomment in the default nanorc or add to
an existing nanorc.
