Run 'nano --ignore +2 README'.  Then type:
<Ctrl+Right> <Shift+Ctrl+Right> <Shift+Ctrl+Left> ^K

I think cutting nothing in this case is unexpected.

So at least when the mark is a softmark, an empty selection
should be treated as no selection, in my opinion.
