Regarding this entire patch sequence: putting these toggles only in the
menus where they're used is a good idea, as things stand now.

As for convenience, one additional keystroke to get into those menus
isn't bad at all.  Several keystrokes would be problematic, but that
isn't the case, and we *do* need more free keystrokes.
