Sorry, it does work.  I had played with some settings that made Bsp
and Ctrl+Bsp equivalent.  :|

So, locally I have bound ^H to cutwordleft.  I don't think I would
need to have cutwordright bound -- I don't think I would use it.

And instead of Ctrl+Backspace, I would simply use Ctrl+Shift+Left
(several times, if needed) and then ^K -- this has the advantage
that one can paste the word(s) somewhere else.
