Hm.  That was unexpected.
Please try 2.6.1.  It should succeed too.
And then, for good measure, a fresh build of 2.6.2.

Drop the patch in the nano-2.7.4/ folder.  Then run
  patch -p1 <chop-curses-funcs.patch
Then configure and compile normally. 


By the way, what is it that requires nano-2.2.4 or later?
