Hello,
I'd like to run myExperiment but by webhosting provider
(nearlyfreespeech.net) does not seem to support Ruby on rails.
From their FAQ:
What are the most common things that do not work on your system?
Here are the things we are most often asked about that do not work
with our service:
cron (this or a similar feature is on our to-do list)
FastCGI / SCGI (this is not applicable in our hosting environment,
thus we do not offer it and programs written specifically to depend on
its API will not work)
Gallery (or any application that has not been updated to work with PHP
safe_mode)
Java Servlets / JSP (we have no plans to add server-side Java support
at this time)
Ruby on Rails (this works, but the performance is wretched due to
Rails' unfortunate architectural dependency on FastCGI; note that
running Rails as a daemon is forbidden)
mod_perl, mod_ruby, and mod_python
Zope and other web application frameworks that depend on persistent
processes
Does anyone have any other ideas, aside from hosting it on my own
Linux box?
best regards,
Chris
