The 0.99-1 version I just downloaded from the website works fine.
FYI: monotone 0.48 did not solve the problem. It is likely a version
I downloaded from the monotone website some time ago.
~/bin/mtn-0.48-linux-x86 --version
monotone 0.48 (base revision: 844268c137aaa783aa800a9c16ae61edda80ecea)
But all is fine now.
