If anyone wants to see silly graphs, Walter Landry's CodeCon slides
are online:
  http://superbeast.ucsd.edu/~landry/ArX/codecon/codecon.sxi
  http://superbeast.ucsd.edu/~landry/ArX/codecon/img0.html
(NB: he gets the "lines of code" wrong for monotone (it's actually
~24000), and for darcs (I'm not sure what it actually is, but
sloccount doesn't grok literate haskell, so it counts chunks of the
manual as being source).)

He also mentioned in private mail:
Also, one thing that might not be obvious from the plots. For the
"Time to update from a revision", the times at revision 1100 go to 3
seconds (svk) or less than 1 second (everything else) except monotone,
  which takes about 30 seconds.

I've asked him if his timing scripts are available.

"...these, like all words, have single, decontextualized meanings: everyone
knows what each of these words means, everyone knows what constitutes an
instance of each of their referents. Language is fixed. Meaning is
certain. Santa Claus comes down the chimney at midnight on December 24."
