wget http://caml.inria.fr/pub/distrib/ocaml-3.09/ocaml-3.09.1.tar.bz2
tar -xjvf ocaml-3.09.1.tar.bz2
cd ocaml
patch -p2 -E -i ../ocaml_unicode.patch

does the trick here without problems.
