Original Submission:  I set it to 500 but I have many file with more than 500 
sources (I had a file with ~1800 sources!).

As I understand, this is only a "target", not an upper bound.
Maybe it should try harder to keep number of sources under control, though, if 
this can become a problem (resources usage ?)
