Summary: Adding Links stalls mldonkey for each ~10 seconds

Original Submission: Since a few versions I noticed a huge slowdown of
mldonkey while adding new links. Now I found it accidentally:

Please REMOVE "saving" the ini's after adding one file. While mldonkey saves
its data, all other processes (sources management, sources connection, gui,
up+download, ..) are stalling.
This takes about 10 seconds on my machine and it takes at least half an hour
before mldonkey is back on speed where it originally was.

While adding several links at once, this becomes really cruel. mldonkey got
stuck in a save-options-loop while adding 20 links at once (it does
save_options right 20 times directly after another!, mldonkey full freeze for
more than a minute!!!!).

Please remove this immediately. It is enough for mldonkey to save the current
'state' every save_options_delay. I even increased this to 1800 seconds.
MLdonkey is running stable and does not really need this, as it
saves on "kill".

Or at least, please - send me a patch or tell me where at least I can remove
this behaviour.

Thanks

Please try CVS 2-5-18, the bug should be fixed:
2004/04/06: Fabrice
  - CommonGlobals: only execute 'do_at_exit' in the main process, not
in the forked ones (should solve bug #7738).

Thanks HighTime, this fixed the issue.
Please remove ./mlprogress in the default CVS so that won't happen again.
(Why does calling a script that does not exist take so much time?)

It's file_started_cmd so use : set file_started_command ""

What's in your file_started_command? If it's ./mlprogress you can try to check
if
1) mlprogress is in mldonkey binary dir
2) remove it : set file_started_command ""
solve the problem.
(BTW --disable-multinet --enable-bittorrent or something like that should work)

I'm using this configure:

./configure --disable-gui --disable-audiogalaxy --disable-opennap
--disable-openft --disable-cymes --enable-batch --enable-pthread-lib
--disable-gnutella --disable-directconnect --disable-soulseek
--disable-fasttrack --disable-gnutella2

It runs actually on a SMP system with 4 entries in the processlist:

donkey 1683 14.8 10.2 126956 119392 ? S Feb19 1175:51 ./mldonkey
donkey 1696 0.0 10.2 126956 119392 ? S Feb19 0:11 ./mldonkey
donkey 1697 0.0 10.2 126956 119392 ? SN Feb19 0:03 ./mldonkey
donkey 1703 0.1 10.2 126956 119392 ? SN Feb19 11:14 ./mldonkey

Did you compile your core using pthreads?
