With version 2.4 (or a little earlier) relative links were 
introduced.

ProxyPass is now without any problems possible. I use it, 
too.

i tried to get this working - couldn't.

Thought of 2 solutions - setup a setup a subdomain on 
apache, i.e. -  mldonkey.yourbox.com - the links should work

-or-

download a php interface ;-)
