Hey,

some more investigation. Simply placing it in .pc seems not to be
enough as the library build itself fails with two functions not being
defined.

I've also dug into configure.ac a bit. There are some interesting
conditions in which LIBSSH_API2 is set: the switches
--(en|dis)able-hidden-sysmbols interact with it. I don't really want
to try to come up with a patch for this, sorry, I simply lack the
time. If you don't want to accept my original patch that's fine with
me, I'll just keep using it myself.
