I just set up my /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/register to run .exe files
with Wine and verified that I can duplicate the problem without the
"cross_compiling" hack.

Next I tried adding --build. It seems to work.

Could you please test the attached curl.mk, especially Matthias or
anybody else using Wine.
