It looks like we are very close to getting this to work.
Sorry for stopping you on that, but I think I found a simpler solution.

Tony, Mark, does that solve the issue on all systems?

It builds for me on Linux. Congratulations on getting to the root of the problem.

We did learn a few tricks though our efforts, so it wasn't all for nothing.

Would it be better to use -isystem instead of -I for the include directory used in the native glib build? If I understand correctly, this should ensure that "#include <iconv.h>" gets the file from $(1).native/$(libiconv_SUBDIR)/include instead of the standard system include directory.
