After some long research, I found and fixed a bug that was introduced
by our own qt-win32 patch:

http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/mingw-cross-env/rev/ffad8c763036
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/mingw-cross-env/rev/2899cee8b5df

There are still issues on OSX, but for FreeBSD and Solaris the
bugfix might be sufficient. It solves the issue that "g++" was
called instead of "i686-pc-mingw32-g++".

Tony, could you check that on FreeBSD and Solaris, please?

If it works, it would also be interesting to know whether the
'$(SED) ... solaris-g++" hack is still needed for Solaris. It
appears twice in the qt.mk, and I'd like to remove at least one
occurence.

Greets,

    Volker
