[microdc-devel] unable to compile under NetBSD

hi there, 

i'm currently trying to install microdc2-0.15.6 on a netbsd box. however, in the ./configure stage, i run into this error:

checking for the GNU Readline library... not found
configure: error: GNU Readline is required to build and run this project.

GNU Readline 5.2 is indeed installed (both via NetBSD ports, and from compiling the official source), however, this error continues. I haven't been able to find a workaround.

Has anybody any ideas?
