Hi Thomas,

We found a consensus about this subject: Let Maposmatic handle abbreviations, since we have _a lot_ of data written this way. In addition, we also strive to correct this information in the OSM database.

Attached, the diff files to ocitysmap, and maposmatic.

If the team accept the patch, please let me know when this go live.

Yes, this page was exactly what I was referring to yesterday: is the
usage of "R. of something" correct or not for the name= tag of
OpenStreetMap.

Don't hesitate to let us know when a consensus is found on this topic.
