Follow-up Comment #1:

I think this is a no-go. The default language is based on the language
preferences configured in the browser. So, for someone browsing with her web
browser preferences setup like: "en-US", "en", etc. at the top of the list,
maposmatic.org should show-up in english. If her browser is configured with
french at the top, then it should show up in french.

And then, if the user wants to change this default setup, yes she can: by
selecting the right language in the dialog box. Once configured, this setting
will be remembered throughout her session.
