I fail to see how something like

   cmd.exe /c "build_w32 gcc"

could "complicate" things in any way.

OTOH, if you build a MinGW Make using the configure script, you are on
your own: there's no guarantee this will work for MinGW, because the
official way to build it is with build_w32.bat.
