IIRC it is built from unmodified GMAKE source and uses the MSVCRT.DLL runtime but the Makefile to create make.exe is generated by the configure script. The only purpose for MSYS is to be able to execute the configure script. It supplies no runtime for the native user. We still need to hear from the OP as to what sh.exe he has on PATH. Until that question is answered then further talk is just noise.
