Well that’s an easy fix. Thank you.

I did perform:
./configure CPPFLAGS='-I /usr/local/include' LDFLAGS='-L /usr/local/lib’

But running bsd make after this fails. I don’t know why it wouldn’t pick up the 
flags when gmake does.
