Hi!
I am using an older version of lynx in xterm on Slackware64-15.0 and
the umlauts are all displaying correctly for me in the articles on
gopher://taz.de/1/
Lynx Version 2.9.0dev.10 (11 Aug 2021)
libwww-FM 2.14, SSL-MM 1.4.1, OpenSSL 1.1.1zb, ncurses 6.3.20211021(wide)
Built on linux-gnu (Dec 3 2021 13:03:23).
$ set | grep -e LANG= -e LC_CTYPE= -e TERM=
LANG=en_US.utf8
LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8
TERM=tmux-256color
$ grep character_set= ~/.lynxrc
character_set=UNICODE (UTF-8)
$ grep -e ASSUME_CHARSET -e LOCALE_CHARSET ~/lynx.cfg
#LOCALE_CHARSET:true
ASSUME_CHARSET:UTF-8
What are the values on your system?
Best regards,
-Ben
