[Lynx-dev] compile problem

attempting to compile Lynx Version 2.8.8rel.2 (09 Mar 2014)

./configure --with-ssl --with-tls

./configure runs without error
make runs without error
make install runs without error
however, this does not produce Lynx with https capability. error message indicates: "This client does not contain support for HTTPS URLs" 

Any suggestions?
