The first thing that comes to mind is to check whether you have

SHOW_CURSOR:TRUE

in your lynx.cfg file.  If so, then I'd also check that your
"currently selected hyperlink" color (#6) is different from the
normal link color which would trigger Lynx to redraw the text as the
link-focus changes.
