There's an updated version of that patch by Andreas Metzler in
https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-lynx-maint/Week-of-Mon-20160118/000351.html
I just haven't found time to incorporated it into the Debian package.
Will probably do so in the next few days.
