Now I see something new, I bring up the color-style configuration, do SHELL,
right away "exit", and after drawing anew, all the color is of an ordinary
DOS screen aside from the top and bottom lines and anything highlighted by
search, to wit, lightgray on black.

By the way, how are the color-style mock elements "default" and "normal"
used, and what are the colors "default" and "normal"?

"default" applies to things that are not colored (such as the background), and "normal" applies to tags that are not otherwise colored. That sounds vague - it's what I recall.
