What it sounds like you are wanting is a bit of web scraping and
interaction with a web page. There are likely many ways to do that.
I myself would start by taking a look into the program Expect
(http://expect.nist.gov/).

But, before you try to automate lynx , you might take a look at
just talking directly to the web server.  Several ways to go at
that - comp.lang.tcl might be a place to being.
