but I don't see it in the copies I've built.  It's possible that it's
trashed memory - though the mechanism doesn't seem apparent.  There was
one fix that I made to dev.16, patch at

no - it doesn't happen for me (checking with a fresh install using the
patch indicated above, and downloading from my webpage), e.g.,
