I think this is a different problem, related to my incomplete working-out of
2002-10-06 (2.8.5dev.9)
* make ASSUMED_COLORS in lynx.cfg apply to normal curses implementations which
do not implement assume_default_colors() (prompted by discussion with
Bela Lubkin) -TD
The problem is that PDCurses doesn't match the assumptions that I was working
against. I believe DK pointed out a case where dev.14 still isn't entirely
displaying as expected, but it's an improvement over dev.9
