I built Lynx using the pkgadd from www.sunfreeware.com. It was a simple
uncompress/pkgadd install. I do not have ncurses installed, unless it was
packaged with the install program.
Any ideas on how to get the program working?

perhaps lynx was built with ncurses, but its terminfo database was not
installed (I've seen this commented on a few times). You can make it
use Solaris' terminfo set setting the $TERMINFO variable, e.g., to
/usr/share/lib/terminfo
