But Lynx does. It normally pefixes the superscript with a carat,
and puts subscripts in square brackets.
In the example I provided
>> ( 1 - <i>v</i><sup>2</sup> / <i>c</i><sup>2</sup>) <sup>1/2</sup>
the superscript is indicated on the variable c, but not on the variable v,
and the power 1/2 is not indicated.
