The first thing to try is to switch to the current version of lynx. It
sounds like you downloaded a binary from Wayne Buttles' web site. This
version is quite old and many bugs have been fixed subsequently. You can
get the 2.8.5dev.2 binary from Hiroyuki Senshu's web site or the
2.8.4pre.4 from Jim Spath's web site. If you get the 2.8.5dev.2 version,
look for the full lynx.cfg within the distribution. The one in the top
directory is usually optimized for Japanese viewing (I didn't check this
package).
