^this should be deleted, i believe
eg my lynx.cfg contains the successful line:
VIEWER:image/jpeg:xv %s:XWINDOWS
BTW more generally, the source should be corrected to `XWINDOW':
probably, FM -- a VMS user -- didn't notice ...
