yes (all of the files should be writable, since that determines the
permissions on the tarball/zip-file contents).

But what I had in mind was adding SSL to the configure script, since I'm
getting the message about the export changes.  (Also, the command-completion
stuff I was working on - want to complete that -- I'll have some time next
