It's not Lynx's problem. That's only because MHonArc converted "<" to
"<".
Try
% lynx -source http://www.flora.org/lynx-dev/html/month072000/msg00023.html
| sed -e 's/</</g' > foo.html
% lynx foo.html
# A mime-header "Content-Type:..." may prevent MHonArc from this
