i don't know what VxWorks is, tho' others may (but haven't answered).
you can get the latest development version 2-8-3dev.20
from lynx.isc.org/current or sol.slcc.edu/lynx/current .
try compiling it & let us know if you run into problems.

there's no special documentation for porting Lynx.
