lynx-dev ordering on bn.com -- busted.. but is it lynx? |

Has anyone successfully ordered on bn.com with Lynx (with SSL if necessary)?
I *think* I have in the past, but now I'm not so sure.
I'm getting:
Microsoft VBScript runtime
error '800a000d'
Type mismatch: 'CInt'
/shop/xt_manage_cart.asp, line 356
after:
1) Search for item
2) Add to cart
3) Checkout Now
This happened both with Lynx normally and spoofing Mozilla
(specifically: 'Mozilla/4.5 [en] (lynx 2.8.2)').
Strangely, emailing their customer service resulted in a canned response
saying in part:
Thank you for your email regarding the problem you experienced while
browsing on our site. We appreciate your taking the time to write to us,
and we have researched the problem already.
We identified a technical problem that caused the difficulty you
experienced (please fill in the date here). Please be assured that we
are working to resolve this as quickly as possible.
and they also offered free shipping on my order.
Yet I just successfully ordered with IE, and trying Lynx again (to make
sure it WASN'T a temporary problem that was fixed) causes the same
problem..
So basically I'm not sure if I should take them up on their free shipping
offer (I'm a big bargain hunter, but if it really IS Lynx's fault I'm not
going to take advantage of them)...
and mostly I want to be able to order with Lynx in the future if I do order
from them again...
BTW, the book about Xerox, "Fumbling the Future" is back in print (actually
Amazon & bn.com contract with some print-on-demand company apparently), and
with a coupon and if I do the free shipping thing, it'll be under $5, plus a
few percent more back through ebates.com.. heh heh.. (I did the above steps
WITHOUT ebates to make sure that wasn't causing the problem somehow.)
